Shared Vision operates through the generous contributions of its donors. There are three main ways to help.
D2 Durability and Dignity
Consider this concept our filter of excellence. While we believe that good lenses and a fine tuned prescription are key, we want every recipient to receive eyewear that adds dignity to their life. This means that eyewear should meet current style standards, and it must be durable without defect.
We believe that being able to provide quality frames in contemporary styles to those in need not only adds to their immediate need for improved vision, but also enhances their dignity and allows them to fully enjoy their new prescription.
Financial Donations
Creating a full-circle connection with our financial donors is a top priority for our team. We do this by telling the stories of those impacted by Shared Vision—all made possible by the generosity of our donors. We believe linking our volunteers, patients, and donors through story helps display the intrinsic value of each person and our work together.
Financial contributions are directed toward the purchase of eyewear for Shared Vision campaigns and for the travel expenses of SVI aid workers. We are a 100% volunteer-based organization. Since we have no paid positions, all donated funds go directly to those in need either in product or the costs to get care to them. Shared Vision is a 501c3 and all financial contributions are tax deductible.
Physician Time Donation
All exams are provided by optometrists who donate their time. If you are an optometrist or ophthalmologist interested in joining our work, click here.
SVI Network
Generosity can be seen throughout the optometric industry. The SVI Network was created as a bridge to bring together our combined domestic resources to those in need.
It would not be possible to provide the eyewear and services we do without our SVI Network partners and contributors. Several key partners across the US have generously and gladly given their time, funding and new-product donations in ways that have astounded our board.
